ZIPS commends Government on the suspension of Work permit for foreign Personnel

Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply has welcomed the move by government to suspend work permits for foreign personnel. In an interview with Hot FM news on 15th February 2017, Institute President Mr Chibwe Mwelwa said the suspension will encourage the integration of local skills in the labour market.  Mr Mwelwa has since urged government to consult professional bodies on the available skills on the local market before engaging foreign personnel. He further stated that the work permits were being abused by foreign personnel who do not follow some of the provisions in the law like adherence to ZIPS which is mandatory.

Home Affairs Minister Honorable Steven Kampyongo recently announced the suspension of conditional work permits until the system is reorganised to eliminate abuse.
